2008 Crossroads of the South 94 Boys Silver Divsion Champions BFC94Boys
Crossroads of the South is one of the regions premiere Fall soccer tournaments attracting teams from all over the southeast. The BFC 94 Boys did not have to drive as far as other teams but they did bring their "A game" along for the ride.
BFC managed to finish bracket play undefeated with 1-0 victories over SC Calcasieu and Clinton Futbol Club. On Sunday BFC advanced to the finals and played a hard fought match against a well trained and capable Huntsville team. That game ended in a 1-1 tie failing to produce a champion. Two subsequent overtime periods ended in the same score thus sending the game into a shootout. Only seven players made it to the penalty mark as BFC made all of their first four shots and Huntville falied on two of their first three attempts.
Players, parents, siblings and Coach Mark Walker were jubilent as championship medals and trophies were presented by JFC DOC Kevin Johns. Coach Walker praised the young men for playing as a team and believing in one another.
Players of note in this tournament were as follows:
Caleb Hux - goal versus SCC
Bryan DEel Vechio - goal versus CFC
Bradley Arender - Pk versus Huntsville
Joshua Kyrkendall, Michael Martella, Cameron Magee and Ryan Hudson - goals in shoot out versus Huntsville
Tyler Watts - GK/ shut outs versus SCC and CFC.
Congratulations BFC 94 Boys.

The BFC 94 Boys kicked the soccer season off with a ball. Several bowling balls that is. Thanks to the efforts of the team social committee lead by Gina Harvey players, parents, siblings and friends enjoyed a night of food, fun and fellowship at the Fannin Lanes.
We missed Ryan and Zane, hope to see you guys next time. How about another round of Happy Birthdays to Bradley and Cameron.
See everyone at practice.

The Brandon Futbol Club, now in its third year, will field its first 94 Boys team this season. The team is comprised of young men from both Madison and Rankin Counties. They represent five different area high schools. Charged with coaching these players is Ricky Machel.
Coach Machel, of London England, is excited about his team. "We had over thirty skilled players attend tryouts. The best fifteen have been chosen and will have a great season" Machel stated. Machel plans to begin training his team in late July.
Coach Machel plays for both Belhaven College and Mississippi Brilla. Brandon Soccer League Director of Coaching Paul Babba offered the following, "Ricky brings years of experiance to the league and we are lucky to have him! He is the type of role model that we want to work with our players''.
Machel wasted no time in naming his team manager. He has recruited long time soccer volunteer and former BSL board member Dana Martella. Martella will be calling on several of the team parents to help her carry out her duties and coordinate team activities..
CONGRATULATIONS BFC 94 BOYS!!!!!
